Mirko Topalski is an entrepreneur by day and a composer and hybrid drummer by night.
He earned a Master's degree in sound design from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. He has a long career as a performer of popular music, from the cult punk band Obojeni Program to the ethno sensation Sanja Ilić and Balkanika, with whom he performed, among other places, at the Alexandria Opera.
Mirko is the founder of one of the first video game development companies in Serbia, Eipix Entertainment, and one of the founders of the Serbian Games Association. He has also founded several other companies, including Sonic Dune, a company that develops studio equipment used in music production. Until recently, he worked as the director of Playrix RS, which is part of the multinational game giant Playrix, and is now preparing the ground for a new gaming company. He is also the recipient of many awards, including the Ernst & Young Fastest-Growing Entrepreneur of 2015 and the Captain Misa Anastasijevic Award of 2017.
As a composer, he operates in two styles: electronic and classical music, which rarely intersect. Electronic music is mostly in the ambient style of Vangelis and Jarre, and sometimes in 8-bit music reminiscent of early video games. The classical music he currently writes is tonal and largely neo-Baroque in style. His goal for the future is to unite these two styles into something new and unique.
He has more than 50 published works in the field of applied music, mostly music for video games, and somewhat less for theater productions, film, and advertising. Notably, he composed the music for the video game Hidden Expedition Smithsonian Hope Diamond, which was produced in collaboration with the world's largest museum complex, The Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
Mirko is a great fan of science fiction and comics, and it is interesting to mention that he is also the co-author of the comic book Lightstep Chronicles, which was published by the renowned American comic book publisher Dark Horse in 2018.
